Discover Newport Welcomes New Sales Manager

Rhode Island native Christopher Siravo will focus on servicing the group tour market.

Newport (R.I.) March 14, 2018 – Discover Newport, the official destination marketing organization for Newport and Bristol counties, has hired Christopher Siravo as Sales Manager.

 

Siravo, a graduate of Rhode Island College, will concentrate on generating business from the group market, including tour operators and travel agents. He will represent Discover Newport at domestic and international trade shows to promote group and foreign individual travel while developing an array of group tour travel packages with hotels, attractions and special events throughout our destination.

 

Siravo’s related experience includes serving as Group Tour Coordinator at the Preservation Society of Newport County and an internship at the Providence Warwick Convention and Visitors Bureau working with the Rhode Island Sports Commission.

Michael Botelho Joins BayCoast Mortgage Company as Mortgage Loan Officer

Originally from Cranston, Rhode Island, Botelho now lives in Warwick with his girlfriend Carly and their dog Lincoln.

Michael Canini Named General Manager of New Hilton Garden Inn Providence

Providence, RI- Hilton Garden Inn Providence, owned and managed by TPG Hotels & Resorts, today announced that 20-year industry expert Michael Canini has been appointed as the hotel’s new general manager. Currently operating as the Wyndham Garden Providence at 220 India Street, the property is in the process of being updated and rebranded, and is scheduled to fly the Hilton Garden Inn flag in July 2016. In his role as general manager, Canini will oversee full hotel operations to optimize guest experiences.

He will be responsible for leading the hotel’s team of managers and associates and supervising all operational aspects of the hotel, including the front office, housekeeping, kitchen, restaurant, event planning, banquets, maintenance and security. He will also oversee procurement, training and hiring, and work closely with the sales and marketing teams to develop revenue generating strategies through a tailored sales approach that align with Hilton Garden Inn’s unique brand business strategy.

He has also held front office management positions at the Boston Marriot Newton and the Newport Marriot.

Canini holds two degrees from Johnson & Wales University: a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management and an associate degree in hotel/restaurant management. He has also been recognized a number of times for his leadership excellence. Most recently, Canini was awarded Marriott’s Breakthrough Leadership GM Role Model of the Year and Breakthrough Leadership Best Results.

The ProvidenceG Names Director of Sales and Events

PROVIDENCE, RI – The ProvidenceG, a new development of one of the City’s most iconic historic buildings and home to several unique dining and entertainment venues, today announced that Rebecca Miller – an established event spet – has joined its team as director of sales and events. With more than 10 years of experience managing weddings, corporate events, large banquet services and intimate social gatherings, Miller will apply her extensive event planning, catering and management skills to direct events and private dining experiences for all restaurant and entertainment venues at the ProvidenceG.

Her experience will have an impact on The Ballroom at the ProvidenceG; Garde, a contemporary restaurant featuring innovative new American cuisine with a French inspiration; Rooftop at the ProvidenceG, the City’s only rooftop restaurant and lounge; GPub, a modern gastropub with a speakeasy feel, a scratch kitchen and entertainment amenities; and GCafé.

As director of sales and events, Miller’s role will include creating unique event experiences, crafting and implementing effective sales and marketing strategies, and developing and cultivating relationships that will assist in expanding the ProvidenceG’s event and private dining offerings. Additionally, she will collaborate with outlet management teams to ensure memorable events and experiences across the organization’s array of venues. While executing these responsibilities, Miller will infuse the brand philosophy of GHospitality, a growing hospitality and multi-brand group that operates the ProvidenceG.

Her background also includes positions as director of catering, restaurant manager and catering sales manager at other Rhode Island hospitality venues.

Throughout her career, Miller has consistently exceeded revenue goals and earned awards. While working at The Regatta Place, Miller was instrumental in earning the venue the Wedding Wire’s Couples Choice Award for four consecutive years. She was also a 2013 recipient of the Stars of the Industry “Emerging Leader” award from the Rhode Island Hospitality Association.
