Wyatt Detention Facility Board Selects Daniel W. Martin As New Warden

27 year corrections industry veteran selected to lead Donald W. Wyatt Detention Facility

CENTRAL FALLS, RI – The Central Falls Detention Facility Corporation, which oversees the Donald W. Wyatt Detention Facility, has selected Daniel W. Martin, a 27 year corrections industry veteran who recently served as Wyatt’s Interim Warden and Major, to be the facility’s new full-time Warden.  The selection was made after conducting an extensive search and with input from key stakeholders including Wyatt executive staff, corrections officers and a consultant retained by bond holders.

Warden Martin’s salary will be $110,000 with performance bonus options tied to increasing Average Daily Population (ADP) and the completion of successful facility audits.

“We are very pleased that after conducting an extensive search, we found the best candidate for Warden right here at Wyatt,” said Luke Gallant, Chairman of the Central Falls Detention Facility Corporation board.  “In his past 18 months serving at Wyatt as a Major and Interim Warden, Dan Martin has won the trust and respect of corrections officers, staff and the wider community.  We believe Warden Martin built that trust based on his personal integrity, willingness to lead by example and his unending commitment to excellence in the care, custody and control of our inmate population.  Put simply, Warden Martin is the right person to guide the Wyatt Detention Facility forward.”

“The hard working corrections officers at Wyatt have seen first-hand the leadership of Dan Martin during a difficult period for the facility,” said Fraternal Officer of Police Lodge 50 President Anthony Rainville.  “We look forward to continuing to work collaboratively with Dan and strongly support his appointment as full-time Warden.”

“I am humbled by this appointment and excited about moving the Donald W. Wyatt Detention Facility forward,” said new full-time Warden Daniel W. Martin.  “The Wyatt has been through a difficult period, but we have emerged from receivership and are ready to grow.  I look forward to working with the board, staff, our corrections officers, the City of Central Falls and our federal agency partners to make the Wyatt a national model facility.”

“Just like the City of Central Falls, the new leadership at the Wyatt, led by Chairman Gallant and Warden Martin, are finding ways to do more with less and to turn the page on the past,” said Central Falls Mayor James Diossa.  “I am hopeful that the Wyatt will continue its successful turnaround and am confident that Warden Martin has the experience, leadership and commitment to community engagement needed to run a safe and secure facility that benefits our city.”
