Washington Trust Appoints Gim Head of $4.4B Wealth Management Group

WESTERLY, RI – Washington Trust recently announced that Mark Gim of Barrington, R.I. has been appointed Executive Vice President, Wealth Management and Treasurer. In his new role, Gim is responsible for establishing and executing strategy for Washington Trust Wealth Management, a division of The Washington Trust Company. Washington Trust Washington Trust reported wealth management revenues of $7.5 million at March 31, 2013 and wealth management assets under administration totaled $4.4 billion at March 31, 2013. Wealth Management is the largest wealth management firm headquartered in Rhode Island and one of the premier wealth management providers in New England.

Gim has extensive experience in the financial services industry, specializing in corporate planning and treasury-related functions dating back to 1989. He joined Washington Trust in September 1993 from Citizens Bank and most recently served as Executive Vice President and Treasurer, with additional responsibilities for overseeing the Retail Banking division. He is a Magna Cum Laude graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Brown University. He also holds a Master’s Degree from the London School of Economics.

Gim serves as Lecturer on the faculty of the Morin Center for Banking at the Boston University School of Law.  He also serves as the President of the Community College of Rhode Island Charitable Foundation and Vice President of the Rhode Island Free Clinic. In addition, Gim is a board member of the Trinity Repertory Company, the YMCA of Greater Providence, and the Rhode Island Philharmonic and Music School.
