PROVIDENCE, RI Junior Achievement of Rhode Island (JA), which provides programs on workforce readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy, announced it has received a $3,363 grant from the TD Charitable Foundation, the charitable giving arm of TD Bank, America’s Most Convenient Bank®, as part of the Foundations commitment to giving back to the community. The grant will support Junior Achievement’s financial literacy programs.

With programs such as JA Personal Finance, JA Economics for Success, and JA Finance Park among others, Junior Achievement’s financial literacy programs help prepare young people for the real world by showing them how to generate wealth and effectively manage it, how to create jobs which make their communities more robust, and how to apply entrepreneurial thinking to the workplace.

“We are pleased to have the support of the TD Charitable Foundation, particularly because they have been strong supporters of our organization and do so much for the community,” said Lee Lewis, president of Junior Achievement of Rhode Island. “This grant will help JA continue providing youth in Rhode Island with the financial literacy skills they need to survive, thrive and contribute to our state’s economy.”

JA’s unique approach allows volunteers from the community to deliver the curriculum while sharing their experiences with students. Embodying the heart of JA, these classroom volunteers transform the key concepts of the lessons into a message that inspires and empowers students to believe in themselves, showing them they can make a difference in the world. Programs supported through this grant will take place in Rhode Island’s urban and urban-ring school districts – reaching those students who need it most.

A staunch commitment to active involvement in the local community is a vital element of the TD Bank philosophy. TD Bank, America’s Most Convenient Bank® and the TD Charitable Foundation provide financial and other support to affordable housing initiatives, financial literacy and education and the environment, many of which focus on improving the welfare of children and families.
