RI Food Fights joins RI Latino Arts to Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month

RHODE ISLAND – Travel to restaurants throughout the state in search of Rhode Island’s BEST tacos!

There’s no better way to learn about the ethnic fabric of a community than to sample the local cuisine. This year, RI FOOD FIGHTS joins RI Latino Arts for their signature Sabor Latino annual fundraiser in celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month which occurs from September 15 – October 15.

“Our organization was founded with the purpose of celebrating RI’s diverse Hispanic or Latino Heritage. We are happy to join states around the country coordinating events honoring Latino culture during these dates,” said Marta V. Martinez, Executive Director of RI Latino Arts.

The 2nd Annual Sabor Latino event, Taco MANIA will include restaurants and taco trucks from across the state such as El Rancho Grande, Mijos Tacos, Tallulah’s Taqueria, Julian’s, Los Tres Amigo Taquería, Taquería Lupita, El Azteca, AQUA at the Providence Marriott, El Salvadoreño Restaurant, Viva México Cantina & Grill, Plaza México, El Fuego, Federal Taphouse & Kitchen, Toro Restaurant, and the Elmwood Diner.

Taco MANIA is meant to be a culinary tour of Rhode Island’s Latin-American restaurants and those that have incorporated tacos into their menus. We take you into the local eateries to savor all kinds of tacos, and in the end leave with a true appreciation for local Latin-American food.

Here’s HOW it works: You buy a ‘Passport’ for $20. Each Passport has a coupon for EACH competing restaurant. Each coupon is good for 2 FREE tacos from each restaurant. You have from 9/15 to 10/15 to use your coupons. VOTE online for your favorites. Go to rifoodfights.com to purchase your passports. 50% of proceeds will go directly to RI Latino Arts!

“We are excited to join RI Latino Arts in celebrating the Latino community,” said Jim Nellis, Founder of RI FOOD FIGHTS. “We are excited to celebrate their culinary contributions by searching the state for the best tacos!”
