NEW BEDFORD, MA, October 6, 2016 – Promising plenty of chills and thrills for the
whole family, Buttonwood Park Zoo is busy preparing for its annual “Boo at the Zoo”
which starts next Friday-Sunday, October 14th-16th from 6:00-9:00 p.m. and then
continues the weekends of the 21st–23rd and 28th–30th. The event, sponsored by
Bristol County Savings Bank, is an opportunity for families with children of all ages to
get together for a night of slightly spooky fun. Kids can dress in their favorite costume
and climb aboard the Spooky Express train ride, take a spin through the jungle on the
wild carousel, stroll down the Trick or Treat Trail, explore the hands-on Bone Zone, let
loose at the Monster Mash Dance Yard, creep through the Barnyard Maze and more!
Families are encouraged to bring their own “trick or treat” bags. All the proceeds from
“Boo at the Zoo” support the Zoo’s educational and family programs.
Also back by popular demand is “Baby Boo at the Zoo”, which will take place on
Monday, October 31st from 10:00 a.m. – Noon. The event is geared toward the littlest
ghosts and goblins with a variety of fun activities, including a costume contest, a
Halloween parade and a number of exciting animal encounters.
“As our major fundraiser each year, the success of ‘Boo at the Zoo’ is vitally important
to the quality and quantity of our future programs,” said Paula Montgomery, Director of
Community Engagement at the Buttonwood Park Zoological Society. “We’re incredibly
excited about the event as it continues to be bigger and better each year thanks in part
to our lead sponsor, Bristol County Savings Bank. Families — kids and parents alike
— can look forward to all our slightly spooky or fun Halloween-themed activities, as
well as a couple of new surprises.”
“’Boo at the Zoo’ is another example of the successful local partnerships we’ve developed
and continue to cultivate in the communities we serve,” said Patrick Murray, President &
CEO of Bristol County Savings Bank. “We are proud to support Buttonwood Park Zoo for
the eighth straight year so they can, in turn, provide an even wider array of educational and
family programs for the local community.”
