New England Institute of Technology to Host the 2015 Global Game Jam

EAST GREENWICH, RI – Douglas H. Sherman, Senior Vice President and Provost at New England Institute of Technology (NEIT), announced that the college has been selected as an official host site for the 2015 Global Game Jam.  This 48 hour game design event will be held at 489 jam sites worldwide on January 23-25, 2015.  NEIT has served as an official international host site since 2012.

Global Game Jam will be held at New England Tech’s East Greenwich Campus located at One New England Tech Blvd. The official kick-off begins at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, January 23, in the college’s Media Presentation Theater. (The site will close from 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. each day).  Registration for this event is free but participants must be 18 years of age or older. To register, go to http://globalgamejam.neit.edu/. Global Game Jam has brought students, faculty, hobbyists and professionals together to team up and create complete, playable games over the course of the weekend.  To date, there are 11,562 registered participants in 74 countries with the level of participation increasing each year.

Sherman stated, “New England Tech is very excited to host this worldwide gaming event. This type of competition tests the gaming knowledge of each participant while fostering team building skills that are crucial in the gaming industry. From the novice gamer to the advanced, this event will be fun, challenging and memorable for all.”
