WOONSOCKET, RI–   Mount Saint Charles Academy is proud to announce that three senior high school students were recently chosen to participate in the 2016 Southern New England High School Honor Band. The Academy congratulates junior Cameron Pouliot of Johnston, Rhode Island and sophomore twins Christian and Molly Vallee of Cumberland, Rhode Island for earning this honor.

The purpose of the honor band experience is to offer a unique, quality ensemble opportunity for talented musicians from Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Massachusetts in grades 10-12 who are also enrolled in school band programs.  Having auditioned in early December,  Pouliot will be displaying his talents on the clarinet, Christina Vallee on the trumpet and Molly Vallee on the flute.

“The Southern New England Honor Band gives some of our students a unique opportunity to play with some of the finest musicians from around New England,” Marc Blanchette, the Academy’s music director said. “It also gives them the chance to work with some very talented conductors.”

The guest conductor for this year’s festival is Dr. David Kehler, a Professor of Music and Director of Bands at Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Georgia. The concert will be held at the Fine Arts Center Recital Hall at the University of Rhode Island in Kingston on January 29th and 30th
