The first in a series of workshops, hosted by the RI Small Business Development Center, “Renting Guest Rooms” is designed to teach local Bristol residents how to utilize that “extra” guest room they may have in their own home as a “room for rent” and make some extra income during the height of the Summer season to visitors coming to Bristol for weddings, special events and to enjoy the outdoor activities our town has to offer.

The workshops’ focus will be on:

Rules and regulations/risks and liabilities
Zoning ordinances – what is/is not allowed
Insurance – does your current home policy cover your new venture?
Financials – accounting, banking, taking credit cards, taxes (being state compliant)
Advantages/Disadvantages
Legalities/Licenses
Marketing your new venture
