Leadership Rhode Island Announces Award Honorees

Inspiring Leaders Luncheon, March 7, 2013

Providence, RI (January 24, 2013) – Leadership Rhode Island’s Annual Inspiring Leaders Awards Luncheon, emceed by Frank Colletta (LRI ’97) of WJAR NBC10, will occur on March 7th from 11:30am-1:30pm at the Providence Marriott (One Orms St).  The following individuals will be honored for their demonstrated leadership and commitment to Rhode Island:

  • David E. Sweet Award: Neil Steinberg (LRI ’91), President & CEO, Rhode Island Foundation
  • RI Community Service Award: Kobi Dennis, Founder, Project Night Vision
  • LRI Volunteer Award: Carol Young (LRI ’92), Retired, The Providence Journal
  • Emerging Leader Award: Ysanet Batista, Student, Johnson & Wales University

“This year’s honorees, two of whom are LRI graduates, lead with courage, dedication, generosity, creativity, passion, and good will toward others,” says Mike Ritz, Executive Director, Leadership Rhode Island. “Their actions embody the kind of inspiring servant leadership we need during these trying times.”

Leadership Rhode Island (LRI), a 501(c)3 non-profit established in 1981 whose mission is “to provide leaders and emerging leaders with knowledge and access to resources which will enable them to positively affect their communities,” has publicly recognized outstanding Rhode Island leaders annually through its Inspiring Leaders Awards Luncheon since 1985. At that time, LRI presented the very first David E Sweet Award to John Foley, a graduate of Leadership Rhode Island 1981 Alpha Class.
