Johnson & Wales University’s Dean of Culinary Education, Denver, to Speak at Taste Trekkers Food Tourism Conference

PROVIDENCE, RI – Taste Trekkers is set to take the stage as the nation’s first food tourism conference in Providence, RI. Taking place Friday, September 20th through Sunday, September 22nd, the conference will unite travelers who share similar passion of food and travel. The conference has announced that Jorge de la Torre, the Dean of Culinary Education at Johnson & Wales University’s Denver campus will join the star-studded line-up to highlight the food tourism trend. Jorge’s Bolivian parents instilled a love of food and travel in him at a young age. Since then, he has eaten in 23 countries across five continents. He has worked in the food industry throughout the country, including Hawaii, San Francisco, Vail, Philadelphia, Denver, Albuquerque and New York City.

These notable speakers join the already announced line-up of chefs, restaurant owners, distillers and more, including: two time James Beard Foundation Best Chef Northeast nominee Matt Jennings of Farmstead, the brainpower behind Providence’s Trace and Trust Program, Michael Clayton, Director of Marketing and Communications at Durham Conventions and Visitors Bureau, Sam Poley, Executive Director of the Vermont Fresh Network, Meghan Sheridan, curator of the Culinary Arts Museum at Johnson & Wales,Richard Gutman, former manager of Aroa Fine Chocolate and culinary instructor, Tim Brown, National Vice-President of the United States Bartenders’ Guild, Frank Martucci, Master Distiller of Thomas Tew Rum, Brent Ryan, owner of City Food Tours & Events,Joyce Weinberg, and co-owners of Los Andes in Providence, Omar and Cesin Curi.
