J. Crew and Sephora to Open At Garden City Center New stores are part of the Phase II Development

CRANSTON, RI – In the continuing transformation of Garden City Center, J. Crew and Sephora have signed lease agreements to open new stores as part of the shopping center’s Phase II development that links the Village to the former Commons area.

J.Crew, a nationally recognized retailer of women’s, men’s and children’s apparel, shoes and accessories will open a 5,833 square foot store located next to Pottery Barn in a newly constructed building.  It is anticipated J. Crew will open for business in Garden City Center in November of this year.

Garden City Center also signed a lease with Sephora, a unique beauty retailer with over 200 classic and emerging brands across a broad range of product categories. Sephora will be located in a 5,590 square foot space next to Corner Bakery Café. Both shops will be in space previously occupied by Circuit City. It is anticipated Sephora will open for business in May 2014.

“J. Crew and Sephora are brands that compliment and expand our retail offerings while meeting the growing demand of shoppers who are seeking fashion variety in one stop,” said Maria Salvatore, for The Wilder Companies, the management company for Garden City Center.  “As we continue to redesign and reconfigure Garden City Center we are entering into lease agreements with retailers that not only bring unique offerings for shoppers but who also recognize our unique demographic base provides them with the recipe for long-term growth.”

“The transformation of Garden City Center continues to drive Cranston’s retail economic engine and I am thrilled that two more national retailers have chosen to locate in the heart of our city,” said Cranston Mayor Allan Fung. “The Wilder Companies are living up to their promise to create a 21st Century shopping destination at Garden City Center. They are bringing new and exciting retailers that will provide jobs and revenue for the City of Cranston. We are happy to see their continued success and will continue to help in any way we can.”

Sephora is well known for its unique retail concept, which is rooted in its distinctive store design, the beauty expertise of its sales consultants and, most importantly, its unparalleled combination of over 200 classic and emerging brands across a broad range of product categories including skincare, color, fragrance, bath & body, smilecare, and haircare, as well as Sephora’s own private label. Sephora was founded in France in 1969 and acquired in 1997 by Paris-based LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, the world’s leading luxury products group.

As Garden City Center continues to transform former large format retail stores south of the Village, Corner Bakery Cafe is expected to open its first Rhode Island fast-casual restaurant in the Fall of 2013.  L.A. Fitness will be opening in December of 2013.
