AU Courant Runway Show – A Magical World Down the Rabbit Hole “Expect the Unexpected”

StyleWeek Northeast and Child & Family are pleased to announce that “Au Courant”, has been scheduled for Friday, June 28th, 2013.

Once again, Au Courant will benefit Child & Family’s Community Programs and Services, all of which impact the well-being of over 6,000 individuals and families each year.  Au Courant, meaning “everything current” is the fashion event of the summer in the city by the sea, Newport, RI.  Historically viewed as the playground of the wealthy, Newport, RI boasts some of the biggest sporting, musical and social events in the country during the summer months, and Au Courant has come to be recognized as its Fashion Event.  It is indeed an evening too marvelous for words when Child & Family teams up with StyleWeek Northeast to host a runway show and cocktail party at the beautiful turn-of-the-century mansion, Ochre Court.

The high-end power house runway show is designed to rival those in Paris and NYC, and incorporates the fashion talent of well established and up-and-coming fashion designers – two of whom, Joseph Aaron Segal and Jonathan Joseph Peters, have been featured nationally through their selection and participation on the reality television show “Project Runway”.  This year the event theme is focused around the Lewis Carroll classic tale, “Alice in Wonderland.”

Designer fashions and event décor will incorporate elements from the children’s favorite in both a magical and whimsical way.  Au Courant brings together important elements of the fashion industry in Rhode Island and throughout the Northeast – talented fashion designers, well-established fashion advocates, and the patrons who support both. The event provides a sneak preview of designer fashions which will officially debut later in the summer and fall.  In addition to the exclusive runway show, guests have the opportunity to shop from featured local designers while enjoying exquisite hors d’oeuvres and cocktails.

The event was made possible through the support of StyleWeek Northeast, which was established in 2009, with a vision of connecting buyers and media with emerging design talent.
