East Commerce Solutions to Provide Over 200 Thanksgiving Meals to Local Organizations

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – On Friday, November 21, 2014 East Commerce Solutions will be providing a total of 155 Thanksgiving baskets that will include a turkey with all the trimmings and an additional 50 turkeys to local organizations.

The charities benefiting are Amos House (Providence, RI), Family Services RI (Providence, RI) the Children’s Shelter of Blackstone Valley (Pawtucket, RI), East Providence Senior Center, Saint Martha’s Church (East Providence, RI) and Salvation Army (Pawtucket, RI) and Doorways Food Pantry (Seekonk, MA). A canned food drive is also being held in the East Commerce Solutions office to deliver to these non-profits during this event and throughout the holiday season.

Ed Medeiros, the CEO of East Commerce Solutions had a simple idea of wanting to help provide Thanksgiving meals for local organizations to distribute to those in need. What this vision has turned into shows the true spirit of the holiday season and the passion of those in our community.

Thanks to Dave’s Marketplace, the baskets and labor of putting the baskets together were donated, which allowed for even more families to benefit from this endeavor. MINIs Making a Difference, a local non-profit that involves a group of MINI Cooper owners dedicated to making a difference in the community, happily joined the Thanksgiving meal mission. MINI cooper owners will be driving their MINIs in what has now turned into a ThanksGIVING Meal Delivery Parade to help transport and bring the meals into the organizations. East Providence Police have also gotten involved, offering their vehicle to load the items and services in escorting the “parade” in order to keep everyone together and traveling easily during the special deliveries.

“I wanted to help make sure families going through difficult times had a nice meal for the holiday, giving them the chance to fully enjoy the day and the company of each other. In addition to this event making Thanksgiving a little bit brighter for local families, it has helped us to be reminded of the caring people around us and the great things that can happen when we work together,” said Ed Medeiros.
On Ed Medeiros’ commitment to philanthropy he states, “Charity is not an organization, it’s a way of life.”

Below is the Thanksgiving Basket delivery schedule. Some of the non-profits have the same drop-off times as the deliveries will be split up amongst East Commerce employees if they are located in the same city. We welcome anyone who is interested to join us in the delivery of these items to the inspiring non-profit organizations who work hard all year long to help others. East Commerce Solutions expects this to be an enjoyable day of working with those in the community to make a difference and spread some holiday cheer.
