Google Partners with the RI Small Business Development Center To Offer Free Workshops and Websites

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Google and the Rhode Island Small Business Development Center (RISBDC) at Johnson & Wales University are partnering to bring the Rhode Island Get Your Business Online program to Providence on Monday, June 11, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Rhode Island Convention Center. This program is being launched to drive economic growth by giving Rhode Island businesses the tools and resources needed to create websites, find new customers, and grow their businesses.

A small business can benefit greatly from having an online presence. The constant accessibility, cost-effectiveness, wide audience reach, and up-to-the-minute relevancy make the web an invaluable resource of which many Rhode Island small business owners have not yet taken full advantage. The RISBDC, the premier business development service provider for small business in the state, has seen the use of technology and social media rise rapidly on the list of topics of interest for business owners.

“We are very excited about the opportunity Google is extending to businesses in Rhode Island by offering free websites and related trainings,” said Adriana Dawson, State Director of the RI Small Business Development Center. “By getting more of Rhode Island’s small businesses online, Google is helping our state tell its story and share what Rhode Islanders already know: that we have some of the best and brightest entrepreneurs anywhere in the world. We at the RISBDC at Johnson & Wales University appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with Google on such on a great event, but more importantly, we thank them for the investment they are making in our state.” Rhode Island Get Your Business online is an easy, free and fast way to get your business online. At the four workshops available throughout the day – Build Your Free Website, Online Expo, Grow Your Business Online, and Promote Your Business Online – you can get a free website and business listing as well as free web hosting for one year, one-on-one advice and tips from Google team members, learn more about online marketing and network with your fellow small business owners.
