Sons of Liberty Craft Distillery Announces Return of World’s Best Flavored Whiskey with 2014 Pumpkin Spice Release

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI – The Sons of Liberty continue to lead the American craft whiskey revolution with their highly anticipated 2014 release of Pumpkin Spice Flavored Whiskey; recently rated “World’s Best Flavored Whiskey” at Whisky Magazine’s 2014 World Whiskies Awards in London.
Whisky Magazine’s World Whiskies Awards recognize the very best whiskies in the world and since it’s inception in 2007, Sons of Liberty is the first U.S. craft distillery to take home a “World’s Best”. The Rhode Island craft distillery is proud to announce the continuation of the first-ever seasonal line of whiskies with their 2014 Pumpkin Spice release – hitting shelves throughout Rhode Island and Massachusetts this September.
“Taking home “World’s Best Flavored Whiskey” for the Pumpkin Spice was awesome. Only 10 “World’s Best” awards were given out and to be one of them is just unbelievable. Immediately we thought, wow, we’re going to need a lot more pumpkins this year,” said Sons of Liberty Owner, Mike Reppucci.
The 2014 release of Pumpkin Spice Flavored Whiskey will make use of 30,000 lbs of Rhode Island grown pumpkins from Carpenter’s Farm; a substantial increase from 4,000 lbs in 2013. The Sons of Liberty, along with many loyal volunteers recruited from Facebook cut, cored, roasted and pressed the load of pumpkins in pursuit of hundreds of gallons of fresh pumpkin juice to be blended with an American Single Malt Whiskey (please see a brief video on the production and origin of the 2014 Pumpkin Spice Whiskey here: http://bit.ly/1tEAvow).
Exuding a true pumpkin flavor lacking the sugary, saccharin taste common to flavored spirits, this barrel-aged whiskey masterfully complements the roasted, native harvest with traditional autumn spices – clove, allspice, vanilla, cinnamon and sweet orange; creating a smooth and aromatic pumpkin spice profile that truly captures the essence of Fall in New England.
Sons of Liberty’s 2014 Pumpkin Spice release comes on the heels of its seasonal counterpart, Hop Flavored Whiskey which was awarded Gold Medals at the 2014 Craft Spirits Awards International Competition in Los Angeles, CA and the 14th annual San Francisco World Spirits Competition where it was the only flavored whiskey to win Gold.
“For years, brewers have been producing outstanding seasonal brews that complement the flavors of the season and we always wondered why no whiskies did the same. Why not have a summer whiskey? Why not have a fall whiskey?,” asked Reppucci.
Sons of Liberty’s American Single Malt Whiskies include Battle Cry, born from a Belgian style ale featuring a distinct spice and dark fruit profile as well as UPRISING, originating from a full-flavored stout beer with distinct coffee and mocha notes.
