Pat Lenihan Chosen as the 2016 RI Realtor of the Year

Warwick, RI– October 26, 2016 — The Rhode Island Association of Realtors (RIAR) has announced that Patricia Lenihan, Managing Broker of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in East Greenwich, R.I. was chosen by her peers as the 2016 Rhode Island Realtor of the Year. The award recognizes one of nearly 5000 Realtors throughout Rhode Island for their dedication to the Realtor organization and their local communities. The statewide winner is chosen from the winners of five regional Realtor of the Year awards.  Winners are chosen based on their demonstrated commitment to their local, state and national boards of Realtors, civic contributions and business accomplishments.

Lenihan has served in several leadership positions on the local, state and national Realtor associations, including: 2016 President of the Kent Washington Association of Realtors; Director on the Board of the R.I. Association of Realtors, member of the state association’s Government Affairs, Professional Standards, and Forms Committees; and National Association of Realtors Federal Political Contact to U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse.

She has also been an active fundraiser for both the East Greenwich Rotary Club and Crossroads Rhode Island. Under her leadership, funds raised through the Rotary Club have benefitted such varied causes as the East Greenwich Scholarship Fund and the Rotary’s pure water project, an international effort that has directly resulted in lower infant mortality rates in villages in Central America and Cambodia. The hands-on volunteer work done by her and her agents through Coldwell Banker Cares include an annual holiday party for 30-40 children in homeless families and an Annual Picnic for the 50+ families living in support housing in North Kingstown. Since 2010, Pat has personally run a book donation program with Barnes & Noble bookstore in which customers can donate a book at checkout. Hundreds of books and thousands of dollars have been donated for the children at the Crossroads Shelter.

When not fundraising for these two organizations, Pat is a very active member and past chair of the Parish Council at St. Francis DeSales Parish in North Kingstown, RI, where she has served as a Trustee for the parish. She has been chair and a member of the parish’s Property Planning Committee, overseeing the process of building an 800-seat church in North Kingstown.

Pat is also a member of the East Greenwich Democratic Town Committee and a member of the Philanthropic Education Association, which raises funds for scholarships for women.

Licensed in 1985, Lenihan oversees 60 agents in Coldwell Banker’s East Greenwich office.  She has earned the Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager (CRB), GREEN, Senior Real Estate Spet (SRES) and Certified Residential Spet (CRS) designations and is a historic property spet for the Providence Preservation Society.  She is a resident of East Greenwich.
