Panera Bread In Newport To Hold Job Fair & Jean Drive

NEWPORT, RI — The Panera Bread at 49 Long Wharf Mall in Newport, Rhode Island announces that it is holding a Job Fair & Jean Drive on Tuesday, March 31st from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. for anyone interested in an Associate position during the summer at the Newport cafe. Also, to celebrate Panera’s new uniform option featuring jeans, applicants are encouraged to wear a pair of jeans to the Job Fair and/or bring some slightly worn ones to donate to local charities Seamen’s Church Institute and Lucy’s Hearth. Hosted by the Human Resources Department at Howley Bread Group, a franchise of Panera Bread, the Job Fair will include on-the-spot interviews for those who have completed the online job application at www.PaneraBreadHBG.com.

“When I started at Panera/HBG as a Baker I was really just looking for some work that coincided with my schedule but now just three years later I’m on a fast track to a cafe management position and planning to continue to grow with the company,” said James Robertson, Shift Supervisor at the Panera Newport bakery-cafe. “There are so many opportunities for all ages at Panera, especially at the Newport cafe as we head into the spring and summer seasons, so I encourage anyone interested to come to the Job Fair with jeans on, in hand or both!”

Amanda daCunha is a Marketing Coordinator at Panera/HBG who resides in Newport and calls the Panera Newport bakery-cafe her home office.  “After graduating from Roger Williams University, I decided to look for event planning work in Newport. I was in the Newport Panera one day and I applied and was eventually hired for an Associate position not realizing the potential opportunity for growth here. In the same spirit bread is traditionally shared, Panera’s culture encourages its employees to share their talents and passions at work and in the community.  After being promoted to Catering Coordinator I’m now in my present position coordinating events all the time and was recently recognized by Panera for my service to our non-profit partners.”

The two charities that will benefit from the Jean Drive are Seamen’s Church Institute and Lucy’s Heart.  Seamen’s provides men and women of the sea and persons referred from the Newport community with basic human needs, including food, clothing shelter and human interaction. For more information, please visit seamensnewport.org or call 401-847-4260.  Lucy’s Hearth, based in Middletown, Rhode Island, provides shelter and other services for homeless women and their children.
