Actor John O’Hurley Invites Southern New Englanders to Attend The Matty Fund’s Upcoming Snow Angel Ball

WAKEFIELD, RI – Actor John O’Hurley will hit the local airwaves today in a public service announcement inviting southern New Englanders to attend the upcoming Snow Angel Ball to benefit The Matty Fund, Rhode Island’s leading epilepsy resource center.

O’Hurley, a graduate of Providence College, may be best known for his roles on Seinfeld and other popular television shows. But since losing his older sister Carol to an epileptic seizure, O’Hurley has also been a leading advocate for epilepsy awareness.

“Remembering what my family went through, I truly appreciate the strong sense of community The Matty Fund has built,” said O’Hurley. “I am proud to stand with The Matty Fund as we continue the important work of improving the quality of life for children and families living with epilepsy, while we work to find a cure.”

In the 30-second television spot, O’Hurley encourages anyone living with seizures to contact The Matty Fund to learn more about services offered by the organization including support groups, educational workshops, family activities, and academic and research scholarships. The public service announcement is scheduled to air for one week on NBC 10 WJAR.

In addition to helping publicize the Snow Angel Ball, O’Hurley has agreed to serve as an honorary board member of The Matty Fund.

“We are grateful for John O’Hurley’s commitment to The Matty Fund and to promoting epilepsy awareness here and across the country,” said Marisol Garcia, executive director of The Matty Fund. “We are pleased to welcome John as an honorary board member while we continue to do everything in our power to help children and families living with epilepsy.”

The 12th annual Snow Angel Ball to benefit The Matty Fund is scheduled for Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Warwick. Attendees will enjoy a festive evening of dinner, live music, dancing, and silent and live auction events.

“We invite all southern New Englanders to join us for The Matty Fund’s 2015 Snow Angel Ball to enjoy a fun evening out that benefits a terrific local cause,” said Garcia. “Each year, we look forward to welcoming new and old friends to the Snow Angel Ball in a great show of support for the many children and families living with seizure disorders right here in our community.”
