West View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Wins 2013 RI Health Care Association Quality Award

WARWICK, RI – The Rhode Island Health Care Association (RIHCA) has announced that West View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in West Warwick, RI is the winner of the 2013 RIHCA Quality Award. RIHCA developed the award program three years ago to recognize skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities that show a demonstrated commitment to quality improvement.

Projects eligible for a RIHCA Quality Award must address at least one of seven clinical outcomes tied in with the current quality goals of the American Health Care Association’s Quality Initiative and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Applicants must show improvement sustained over a minimum of one year. West View showed evidence of enhanced resident and/or staff outcomes achieved by quality improvement projects in not one, but five of the award criteria’s seven eligible focus areas.

“Rhode Island is consistently a leader in quality care in the national skilled nursing community and that’s due to the efforts of people like the West View staff. By sharing their success stories, we can help to further elevate the quality of care in skilled nursing centers throughout the state,” said Virginia Burke, President/CEO of the Rhode Island Health Care Association.

West View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is a 120-bed, 24-hour skilled nursing and rehabilitation center with a 35-year track record for quality care. In addition to being a RIHCA Quality Award winner, West View was also recently honored with a Silver Award from the American Health Care Association’s National Quality Award Program, one of only six Rhode Island facilities to have earned the honor.
