Washington Trust Appoints Kent Senior Vice President and Commercial Lending Team Leader

Westerly, RI… Washington Trust has announced that Robert R. Kent, Jr., of Franklin, Mass., has been appointed Senior Vice President and Commercial Lending Team Leader. Kent will be responsible for leading the Providence-based commercial lending team, as well as oversight and continued development of the credit underwriting staff. Additionally, he will oversee changes to the commercial credit underwriting template, enhanced pipeline reporting, and implementation of the new customer relationship management system. He will be headquartered at Washington Trust’s Weybosset Street Office in Providence, R.I.

Prior to joining Washington Trust, Kent served as Senior Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager for Citizens Bank, where he was responsible for non-profit lending in Rhode Island. In addition, Kent has over 27 years of commercial lending, credit underwriting, loan recovery and financial analysis experience with Citizens Bank, Fleet National Bank and Hartford Insurance Group.

A graduate of Northeastern University, Kent serves as Board President of both the RI Alliance of Boys and Girls Clubs and the Woonsocket Boys and Girls Club.
