WESTERLY, RI – Washington Trust and RI Monthly announced LeeAnn Goodness of Ashaway, RI as the July 2013 winner of I Luv RI’s photo contest. The photo was one of hundreds of photos submitted for July’s “Favorite RI Beach” contest theme and will appear in the July issue of Rhode Island Monthly magazine.

“I took this photo in September 2012, a month before Hurricane Sandy. It was a gorgeous day and I stopped to take a photo of my son Timothy running along Misquamicut Beach,” said Goodness. “We are blessed to live an area with such beautiful beaches.”

“Rhode Island is nicknamed “the Ocean State” because we have 400 miles of coastline along the Atlantic Ocean and some of the most beautiful beaches in the country,” said Joseph J. MarcAurele, Washington Trust Chairman, President and CEO. “The Misquamicut State Beach area was devastated by Hurricane Sandy, but we are fortunate that our community banded together, restored the beaches, rebuilt the businesses and are open for the 2013 summer season.”

The “I Luv RI” photo contest is sponsored by Washington Trust in conjunction with Rhode Island Monthly. Photographers may enter by sending their favorite Rhode Island photo to: I LUV RI – Rhode Island, or by visiting www.iluvri.com.
