Tiverton Business Celebrates 30-Years with Presentation by Renowned Sailor

Tiverton, RI – Life Raft and Survival Equipment, (LRSE) of 590 Fish Road in Tiverton Rhode Island, invites boating enthusiasts to a passionate presentation by renowned sailor Rich Wilson at 7pm on April 11th. “This event is the first to be held in celebration of our company’s 30th year in business,” commented Jim O’Connor, president of LRSE.

Rich, as the oldest competitor and only American, competed in and finished the 2008 edition of the Vendee Globe nonstop, solo, around the world race. Only 50 individuals have accomplished this feat, where more than 500 have traveled into space, and over 3,000 have summited Mt Everest.

Rich Wilson, a customer of LRSE’s for many years, will be speaking of the hardships, injuries and challenges he encountered aboard his Open 60 yacht Great American III.As only the second American in history to finish the Vendee Globe race, Rich is part of an elite group.

The former teacher from Massachusetts created a non-profit website called sitesALIVE.com for school children to follow every leg of his adventure. He also wrote and published a book about his exploits titled “Race France to France: Leave Antarctica to Starboard.
