The Vision for the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Outlined

RHODE ISLAND – David Knaack, PhD, Director of Technology Transfer at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, will outline his vision for the entrepreneurial ecosystem at the Southern New England Entrepreneurs Forum (SNEEF) on Thursday, November 12, 5:30-8:00 p.m., at the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (formerly the Advanced Technology and Manufacturing Center), 151 Martine Street, Fall River.

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) is one of the largest and most respected research organizations in the world of study and exploration of the ocean.  WHOI has been developing, testing and licensing innovations that find their way into many different industries.  This innovation-led culture has allowed it to begin to form the basis of an entrepreneurial ecosystem that connects research to commercialization and everything in between.

Knaack focused on commercializing new technologies arising from WHOI’s relationship with the sea, identifying, patenting and facilitating applied research for product advancement.  He joined WHOI after 24 years in the Medical Device/Biotech industry where he held leadership positions in Product Development and Research.  His leadership roles in four biomedical startups have given him a breadth of experience in product development, quality systems, regulatory, project management and the strategic development and commercialization of intellectual property.
