The Matty Fund for Epilepsy to Host 11th Annual 5K Race/Walk on June 8th

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RI– The 11th Annual 5K Matty’s Run/Walk for Epilepsy will take place on June 8, 2013 at the University of Rhode Island. It is the largest Epilepsy walk in Rhode Island.

For the first time ever, $150 cash will be awarded to first place winners for males and females. Additionally, if a new course record is set (male and female), an additional $150 will be awarded. For men, the time to beat is 15:58 and 18:02 for women.

Registration and check in starts at 8:00 am, Matty’s Mighty Dash starts at 9:00 am and the 5K starts at 9:30 am. Cost is $20 in advance and $25 on the day of the race. Following the race, a free barbecue of hamburgs and hot dogs will be served.

The Matty Fund® is the only statewide epilepsy resource center. Named in memory of Matthew Siravo, The Matty Fund® provides family resources, raises epilepsy awareness, promotes patient safety and improves the quality of life for children and families living with epilepsy. The Fund conducts workshops, and holds support groups in Lincoln, Warwick and Wakefield. It also hosts twice annually Camp Matty, a therapeutic horseback riding program for children with epilepsy.
