Rhode Island Cybersecurity Summit to Focus on Innovation, Workforce Development and Job Creation

PROVIDENCE, RI – On Thursday, October 15, Secretary of Commerce Stefan Pryor, national cyber experts and members of the Rhode Island Cybersecurity Commission will participate in a Cybersecurity Summit focused on supporting economic development and creating jobs for Rhode Islanders.

As Governor Raimondo works to spark Rhode Island’s comeback through innovation and transformation, the Cybersecurity Commission believes the state can stimulate economic growth through the cybersecurity industry by leveraging the unique concentration of cyber expertise in defense, the private sector, academia, and the state’s Congressional delegation. This Summit will provide an opportunity tolearn more about capitalizing on and growing Rhode Island’s cybersecurity industry through speakers with expertise in developing cyber-strategic leaders, public-private partnerships, and research and development.

The Summit will serve as the official launch of the Rhode Island Cybersecurity Commission’s second report on economic development due December 1, 2015. The Commission’s first report on cybersecurity resiliency was released last week.
