November is Military Family Appreciation Month. Please join us in remembering the tremendous sacrifices military families make!

Family Service of Rhode Island is honored to assist military families before, during, and after deployment through our Children’s Treatment and Recovery Center.  Recently, some of this work was highlighted in the National Child Traumatic Stress Network newsletter.  You can read the article here.

A number of fact sheets are available for parents, providers and educators, including “Helping Military Children with Traumatic Grief: Tips for Parents”; “Working Effectively with Military Families; 10 Key Concepts All Providers Should Know”; “Helping Military Children Grieve: Tip Sheet for Educators.” To see these and much more, please click here.

Family Service of Rhode Island is the area site for the National Child Traumatic Stress Network.

RHODE ISLAND – Family Service of Rhode Island promotes school attendance through The Walking School Bus.

The Walking School Bus was created to address chronic absenteeism. Our dedicated volunteers ensure that each child, living within a mile of school and needing to walk, arrives on time and returns home safely, even when a family member is unable to walk with him or her.  The Walking School Bus serves a growing list of schools, and needs your help!

Please volunteer! Click here to email for more information on how you can make a difference in a child’s education! Or call 401-331-1350 and ask for The Walking School Bus (ext. 3457).

Thank you!
