Scouting Urban Outreach Award Presented to Dupuis Oil

PROVIDENCE, RI – The Narragansett Council, Boy Scouts of America hosted the 2014 Scouting Urban Outreach Service Award Luncheon at the Providence Marriott Wednesday, November 5th.  Each year, the luncheon serves to honor a local business that has worked closely with young people in our communities to reward them for demonstrating strong values as well as a commitment to community service.

The award is part of the Boy Scouts of America’s ScoutReach Program, a youth leadership development program that works with nearly 1,300 children from urban, low-income homes across Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts. ScoutReach offers adult mentoring, financial aid for summer camp, uniforms and handbooks to all who participate.  The program also offers community service opportunities.

This year’s award was presented to Dupuis Oil, a full service oil company based in Pawtucket that provides quality energy products to residents of Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts.

“We could not have chosen a more deserving recipient for this award,” said John Mosby, Scout Executive/CEO of the Narragansett Council, Boy Scouts of America. “Dupuis Oil’s dedication to youth advocacy and civic service in our community says a lot about the kind of people who work there.  They are an exceptional group of people.”

Proceeds collected from the event’s ticket sales were donated to the ScoutReach Program in support of their unrelenting cause to reach local, urban and at-risk young people.

“We are so honored to receive this award,” said Marc Dupuis, Vice President of Dupuis Oil. “We have always recognized and valued the importance of our youth and the positive influence they can have on the future of our community.  We are always looking to connect with agencies and programs that do the same.”
