SBRI Holds Annual Company Auditions and Award and Scholarship Tryouts

LINCOLN, RI – The State Ballet of Rhode Island is holding annual company auditions and award and scholarship tryouts for their 55th performing season.

 

COMPANY AUDITIONS & AWARD TRYOUTS

State Ballet Rehearsal Studio/Brae Crest School of Ballet
52 Sherman Avenue, Lincoln, RI 02865

Girls Audition Attire:
Ballet leotard with pink tights. Pointe shoes are required if studied pointe.

Boys Audition Attire:
T-shirt, tights and white ballet shoes.

Requirements For Company Members:
Must have studied dance for at least six years, have danced en pointe for three years (female), and be at least 13 years old.

Requirements for Apprentice Members:
Must have studied dance for a minimum of four years, have danced en pointe for one year (female), and be at least 10 years of age.

Fee:
$20 audition fee

All dancers must attend the 12:30pm audition class conducted by Artistic Director Herci Marsden.

AWARDS & SCHOLARSHIPS

The dancers of The State Ballet of Rhode Island are a dedicated group of young people who have achieved a certain level of technique and ability. Annual merit and scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis and are based on talent, financial need, or both.

Requirements:

You must be an auditioning dancer or current SBRI dance member to apply. Scholarship applicants must take the 12:30pm audition class. Beginning at 2:00 pm, a solo presentation, up to 2 ½ minutes, is required of scholarship applicants.

The “Madame Ana Roje Scholarship”
Chosen by SBRI Artistic Director & Judges (for female dancer)

The “Sir Anton Dolin Scholarship”
Chosen by SBRI Artistic Director and Judges (for male dancer)

The “Oskar Harmos Scholarship”
Chosen by SBRI Artistic Director and Judges (for male or female)

The “Joseph Levinhoff Scholarship”
Chosen by SBRI Artistic Director and Judges (for male or female)

The “Mia Slavenska Scholarship”
Chosen by SBRI Artistic Director and Judges (for male or female)
This scholarship is based on talent
and financial need. An essay is required as well.

Brae Crest School of Ballet Scholarship
Chosen by SBRI Artistic Director and Judges (for male or female)
This scholarship is based on talent and financial need. An essay is required as well.
