2019 Thomas Donovan Culture of Caring Award

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health recently presented its 2019 Thomas Donovan Culture of Caring Award to team members across the organization who provide the highest quality and most compassionate care and service to children, adolescents and adults living with emotional, behavioral and cognitive differences.

Christine Hill was the Devereux Massachusetts and Rhode Island recipient! As a Direct Support Professional, Christine has provided direct care services to Devereux’s individuals for more than two decades. One of the first things both staff and students notice is her kind, generous and supportive nature. One small example of her care and dedication is that she recognizes every student in her class on his or her birthday in an individualized way.

About Christine Hill …
Direct Support Professional, Massachusetts & Rhode Island

Christine Hill has provided direct care services to our individuals for more than two decades. One of the first things both staff and students notice about Christine is her kind, generous and supportive nature. One small example of her care and dedication is that she recognizes every student in her class on his or her birthday in an individualized way.
As a servant leader, Christine balances compassion with a keen attention to detail and a sharp focus on following operational procedures and training standards. Her extensive experience includes supervising numerous residential programs. She has established herself as a leader among her peers. Christine promotes a culture of caring by being herself. She has a calming effect that creates stability for students and prevents major incidents. She also is highly skilled at deescalating situations and uses excellent judgment when intervening in a crisis. It is a pleasure to recognize Christine Hill for this prestigious award.

About the Thomas Donovan Culture of Caring Award …

Established in 2002 by Devereux’s national Board of Trustees, the Thomas Donovan Culture of Caring Award pays tribute to longtime Devereux trustee, friend and benefactor Thomas Donovan.

Donovan served on the Board of Trustees from 1989 to 2010. During his tenure as chairman, from 1997 to 2002, Donovan expressed his feelings about the qualities that differentiate Devereux from other behavior healthcare providers.

“Devereux has many wonderful attributes that contribute to success,” Donovan said at the time. “However, let us never forget that it is our Devereux culture of caring that makes everything we do effective and successful. A caring culture, coupled with outstanding treatment, makes Devereux the unique and successful organization it is today.”

The Thomas Donovan Culture of Caring Award is presented annually to a staff member at each of Devereux’s 14 centers.
