RI Money Makers Compete for Local Charities

Local business referrals group members challenge each other by giving back

WARWICK, Rhode Island – The members of a local BNI chapter called Money Makers are engaging in a mini Olympics of sorts. The group has divided into four teams in a challenge to outperform in terms of referrals given, new visitors to the chapter, and continuing education credits.

Each group selected a local charitable organization which will receive a donation if that group wins. The charities chosen are Hope Alzheimer’s Center, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ocean State, The Tomorrow Fund, and www.lilyandjake.org.

“As our referrals group grows and prospers, we are mindful of the need to give back to the communities in which our businesses operate,” said Sal Sauco, President of Money Makers.

The 36-member BNI group, a Founder’s Award winning chapter, is in its third year of existence. The group has passed over $692,000 in business referrals since January 2012. It completed its second year by exceeding its $1 million dollar year-end goal.

Money Makers gathers at lunch on Tuesdays in Warwick from 11:15am to 1pm. Each week, the group hosts a free luncheon at Chelo’s on the Waterfront during which visitors learn how the group grows business for members on a weekly basis.

Current members represent a variety of businesses throughout the region including, but not limited to, travel, financial services, branding, web design, public relations, real estate, mortgage origination, signage, printing, advertising specialties, bankcard services, plumbing, heating, business banking, insurance, radio advertising, computer consultancy, and legal services.

The chapter is actively seeking to fill a number of professional services seats including electrician, payroll services professional, florist, landscape architect, alarm system spet, acupuncturist, and disaster restoration professional.
