RI Executives Association to Host Teny Gross, Exececutive Director of the Institute for the Study & Practice of Nonviolence

WARWICK, RI – Teny Oded Gross, Executive Director of the Institute for the Study & Practice of Nonviolence, Providence, will be the guest speaker at the July meeting of the RI Executives Association.  The meeting is Tuesday, July 16thfrom noon to 1:30pm at The Radisson Hotel on Post Road in Warwick.
Gross will discuss violence in our inner cities, particularly in Providence, and how the Institute is working within the community to change that.  The mission of the Institute is to teach, by word and example, the principles and practices of nonviolence, and to foster a community that addresses potentially violent situations with nonviolent solutions. They work to build Dr. Martin Luther King’s ideal of the nonviolent community, in which everyone is included.
Their programs bring together King’s nonviolence philosophy and theories of social change with concrete community-building practices.  They provide a spectrum of services to reduce community violence and build a sense of hope and positive identity in the individuals they serve, by building positive relationships.
The Executives Association of RI is the local chapter of the International Executives Association, and is the region’s oldest and most experienced independent business networking organization, founded in 1939. Members are chosen for membership, are category exclusive, and provide leads, quality goods, referrals and services to businesses throughout the area.   The group meets weekly and has open categories for membership slots now.  Each week a member shares information about his/her business and once a month guest speakers are invited to educate the membership on a service or topic relevant to the state.
The July meeting is open to anyone interested in business leads and in hearing the guest speaker, though RSVP is required.  The meeting includes a complimentary buffet lunch.  For more information or to register, contact Nancy Thomas, Program Chair at nthomas@TapestryCommunications.com or call 401-447-8182.
