Photo of Rhode Island State House Selected as December I Luv RI Photo Contest Winner

Washington Trust and Rhode Island Monthly announced today that “Winter State House,” a photograph of the Rhode Island State House, taken by Derrick Robinson of Providence R.I., is the December winner of the I Luv RI 2012 photo contest. The photo will appear in the December 2012 issue of Rhode Island Monthly Magazine.
“Snowfall instills in me a sense of peace and tranquility, because it forces our fast-paced world to slow down just a bit,” said Robinson. Adding, “Snow also has a way of highlighting the natural beauty of our surroundings. Who hasn’t looked out there window just after a snowstorm and just been awed by the delightful scenery? Rhode Island’s State House is a magnificent sight anytime of the year, but the beauty of this building is intensified even more when covered with snow.”
“We had more than one thousand photographs entered into the 2012 I Luv RI photo contest — each one illustrating something special about Rhode Island,” stated Joseph J. MarcAurele, Washington Trust Chairman, President and CEO. “It’s fitting that the final selection of our I Luv RI photo contest is a photo of Rhode Island’s State House, a majestic symbol of our State’s history poised in nature’s elements.”
Washington Trust will hold a special event, tomorrow evening, Wednesday, November 7th, at the Warwick Mall Center Court, 400 Bald Hill Road, Warwick, RI, from 6:00 – 7:00 pm to award the “Rhode Island Experiences” to the 12 monthly photo contest winners. The event is free and open to the public.
Each monthly photo winner will randomly select one of twelve special Rhode Island experiences, including stays at Rhode Island’s best resorts, such as Watch Hill’s Ocean House; The Chanler at Cliffwalk in Newport; the Harborside Inn or RI Hotel Manisses, on Block Island; or receive special VIP experiences at the Pawtucket Red Sox, the Providence Bruins, Trinity Repertory Company, Rhode Island Philharmonic, Roger Williams Park Zoo, Warwick Mall and Yawgoo Valley Ski Resort; or a ‘Cake A Month’ from Rhode Island’s own Gregg’s Restaurants.
