PeaceLove’s Jeffrey Sparr named Butler Hospital Corporation Member of the Year

Jeffrey Sparr, of Providence, artist and co-founder of PeaceLove Foundation and PeaceLove Studios, located in Pawtucket, accepted “The Butler Hospital Corporation Member of the Year Award” at the 2nd annual Corporation Members Breakfast of the hospital on May 3rd, held at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick.
In presenting the award, Patricia R. Recupero, JD, MD, President & CEO of Butler Hospital noted Sparr’s long time involvement with the hospital, beginning by bringing an arts program to patients and evolving to serving on the board, co-chairing the annual Dana Quigley Golf Tournament, and ‘doing anything asked of him, and always having creative suggestions to share’.
Sparr, a member of the Butler Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees and the Community Development Committee, Sparr became a member of the BH Corporation in 2001.  His award noted, “A strong supporter of Butler and its mission to provide treatment for psychiatric illness in an atmosphere of dignity and respect, Sparr has brought attention to the need for mental healthcare in RI and a voice to help erase the stigma associated with brain-related illnesses.
Sparr has brought his love of painting and its therapeutic benefits to the hospital and today there is a full healing arts program at Butler Hospital.  PeaceLove continues to make the world a better place by providing a positive symbol for mental illness, helping people find peace of mind, and providing artistic spaces in the community that inspire conversations of acceptance, understanding, and hope.”
