Pawtucket charter school to host 5K road race to support wellness activities

PROVIDENCE, RI – Blackstone Academy Charter School is hosting its third annual Born2Run 5K race to benefit the school’s health and wellness program.

The race is scheduled for Sunday May 18 at 10 a.m., and will take place at the school (334 Pleasant Street in Pawtucket). The fundraising event also includes a one-mile family fun run, refreshments and prizes. Registration is at 9 a.m.

Blackstone Academy students plan and organize the event as a primary fundraiser for the school. Participation fees are $10 for students and $20 for adults. Children under five are free.

Sponsors of the race include Providence law firm Barton Gilman LLP (Gold) and Marcum LLP accounting (Silver).

Blackstone Academy was founded in 2002, and serves students from Pawtucket and Central Falls, with the goal of assisting urban students to complete high school, attend higher education, and contribute to their local, regional and global community.

“We are pleased to once again support Blackstone Academy’s wellness and community involvement initiatives,” said Matt Plain, a partner in Barton Gilman’s Providence office. “We are proud of the Blackstone students and staff, and honored to be part of their continued efforts to serve the school and the community.”
