Pannone Lopes Devereaux & West Announces that James W. Ryan has joined the firm as a Partner

Attorney Ryan is former Chief of the Criminal Division for the RI Department of Attorney General

Providence, RI – August 8, 2012 – Pannone Lopes Devereaux & West LLC (PLDW) is pleased to announce that James W. Ryan, former Chief of the Criminal Division for the Rhode Island Department of Attorney General, has joined PLDW’s Criminal Defense, Health Care and Litigation Teams as a Partner.

Mr. Ryan’s practice includes white-collar criminal defense, complex commercial litigation and corporate compliance. Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Ryan served as the Chief of the Criminal Division for the Rhode Island Department of Attorney General from 1987 through 1996. During that period of his career, Attorney Ryan prosecuted high profile felony cases and was involved in the investigation and prosecution of the collapse of the Jefferson Loan and Investment Bank in the early 90s. Mr. Ryan also worked in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Attorney where he was appointed Senior Trial Counsel and Bureau Chief in the Trial Division by District Attorney Robert M. Morgenthau.

In addition to his full time practice, Mr. Ryan has held several high profile community and volunteer positions in Rhode Island, including serving as a member of the Governor’s Economic Crime Commission, the Teitz Commission on the Future of the Courts and as a board member for the Cornerstone Adult Services, Inc. He earned his J.D. from Fordham University of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from the College of the Holy Cross.  He is admitted to practice law in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and New York, and is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court in MA, RI, SDNY, EDNY; U.S. Court of Appeals, 1st Circuit and 2nd Circuit.
