Supports local community with donations to NH Food Bank and Honor Flight New England
Derry, NH – Ocean State Job Lot, a leading closeout retailer based in Rhode Island with stores in New England and New York, will celebrate the grand opening of its 108th store at 30 Manchester Street in Derry, NH on Thursday, March 14, 2013. This marks the 10th Job Lot store location in the Granite State.
The new Ocean State Job Lot store occupies the old Walmart building. Newly appointed Manager Marcel Cote, a Manchester resident, oversees the 41,000 sq. ft. facility and has hired 30 associates in full- and part-time sales, operations and customer service job positions. “We have been busy training new associates, stocking the shelves with our everyday and seasonal brand-name merchandise, and readying the store for the past few months in preparation for our official grand opening,” states Mr. Cote. “The entire Derry community has been very supportive of our impending opening and we have hired a great group of associates to work with us here.”
Grand Opening day begins when doors open to the public at 8:00 am. Festivities will continue throughout the day including a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:00 am with local dignitaries. In keeping with Job Lot’s community-first approach to business, two special donations to local organizations will be made, courtesy of Ocean State Job Lot’s Charitable Foundation: a tractor trailer truckload of nutritious, shelf-stable food to the New Hampshire Food Bank and funds raised (amount to be announced) for Honor Flight New England to fly area war heroes to their memorials in Washington, D.C. “Thanks to the generosity of Job Lot customers throughout the area who gave at the registers over the 2012 holiday season augmented by matching contributions from our Charitable Foundation, these two donations were made possible,” comments Mr. Cote, who notes that Ocean State Job Lot has established a long history of philanthropic leadership in the communities it serves.
The truckload of donated food will be in the Job Lot parking lot on the morning of March 14th before heading off to Manchester to make the delivery to the Food Bank, and representatives from Honor Flight New England will be on-hand to display information in the lobby to help raise awareness of their cause. Other grand opening activities include public safety community outreach from the Derry police and fire departments and Rockingham County mobile command center, appearances by the Polar Soda mascot and meteorologist Al Kaprielian from WBIN-TV, giveaways and displays from local-area businesses, brand-name product samples from Job Lot’s suppliers, free food, and special drawings to win a $200 shopping spree at the store.
Store hours in Derry, NH are from 8:00 am until 9:00 pm. Monday through Saturday, and 9:00 am to 8:00 pm on Sunday.
