New England Tech To Host High Tech Game Simulaion Event

WARWICK, RI – New England Tech will showcase the Modeling and Simulation (M&S) technology now being used by various branches of the military as well as in the gaming industry. These learning tools are being incorporated into the training programs of U.S. soldiers in an effort to save money and lives.

On display will be a Virtusphere (www.virtusphere.com) which is a 10-foot hollow

sphere placed on a special platform that allows the sphere to rotate in any direction based on the user’s steps as the user views the virtual environment through a head-mounted display. Sensors collect and send data to the computer in real time and the user’s movement is replicated within the virtual environment.  Some of the many uses of the Virtusphere include training the military, counter-terrorism units, police, firefighters, and operators of nuclear power plants for safely training individuals working in dangerous environments. The Virtusphere is also used in the video gaming industry as the ultimate setting for immersive gaming.
