New Book Eases Implementation of Occupational Saftey Programs with 12-Step Program; Offers Free Online Companion Assessment

Fall River, Massachusetts – A new book is available to help companies establish and implement a sustainable, effective safety management system. “Safety Doesn’t Have to Be Difficult! A Recipe for Creating a Strong and Sustainable Safety Management System” introduces the proprietary iforSafety™ program, an easy-to-use, 12-step process to help diverse organizations identify and correct safety problems before they lead to workplace incidents. A free, web-based companion assessment tool is available to evaluate an organization’s safety culture through benchmarking and repeat evaluations at: http://health-safetysolutions.com/iforsafety/.

The book was authored by Michael L. Miozza, a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Professional Environmental Auditor (CPEA), a Certified Safety and Health Manager (CSHM), certified Building Biology™ Environmental Consultant (BBEC) and the founder of the safety consultancy Health and Safety Solutions, Inc. (Fall River, Massachusetts). Mr. Miozza has directed the environmental, health, and safety systems for several major, multi-site corporations. He has over twenty years of experience in the areas of regulatory compliance, human resource management, manufacturing, construction, business management, ISO 14001 implementation, public safety, loss prevention, and developing safety processes at companies such as GTECH Corporation; Taco, Inc.; American Power Conversion; and the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of New England.

“While there are many books providing safety management system advice, the iforSafety program gives business owners, CEO’s and HR professionals a set of processes and management tools to examine data from everyday operations, look for signs that may lead to accidents or incidents, and develop and carry out appropriate risk mitigation strategies,“ said Mr. Miozza. “In the book, I leverage my personal experiences and a review of the literature to demonstrate safety culture and illustrate the 12 steps of the iforSafety program,” Miozza added.

In addition to his corporate experience, Miozza served as a voice for safety in a successful nine year effort to block the installation of a liquefied natural gas facility in his hometown of Fall River, Massachusetts.  As part of that effort, Miozza served on the City’s LNG Task Force and was a founding member of the Coalition for Responsible Siting of LNG. In 2006 Miozza personally joined the City of Fall River; attorneys general of Massachusetts and Rhode Island; and the Conservation Law Foundation, in challenging the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission siting decision in the Federal Court.  Miozza was instrumental in enforcement of Pipeline and Hazardous Material Safety Administration regulatory guidelines for all new and pending LNG import regasification facilities in the United States after October 2010.
