Mayor Taveras Invites Providence Businesses Interested in International Trade to Panama and Dominican Republic to Networking Event Tonight 5 pm to 8 pm at AQUA Providence Marriot.

PROVIDENCE, RI – Mayor Angel Taveras has invited Providence business leaders interested in learning about export trade opportunities and an upcoming international trade mission to Panama and the Dominican Republic, to take part in a free networking event tonight at AQUA Providence Marriott, Orms Street, from 5 pm to 8 pm.

The September 2012 Trade Mission, organized by the John H. Chafee Center for International Business at Bryant University, along with the Rhode Island Center for Small Business Development and the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation, is one of a series of trade missions hosted each year to promote increased business among local companies. The city of Providence, which is home to ProvPort – the 2nd deepest port in the region– and one of New England’s largest Hispanic business communities, has a significant potential for export trade to both the Panama and Dominican Republic.

The Mayor is joining the other organizations in hosting the free networking event, to encourage expansion of local business abroad – increasing business bottom line and job creation. Registration for this evening’s event is requested by calling 401.598.2702 or by registering online at www.risbdc.org.
