Many New Offerings in January at INNERLIGHT Center

MIDDLETOWN, RI – Teenagers, families, book lovers, yoga novices, and others can experience yoga with like-minded people at The Innerlight Center for Yoga and Meditation at 850 Aquidneck Avenue in Middletown, Rhode Island in January. Drop-ins are welcome at these and most all classes at Innerlight. Obtain more details and register for classes at www.innerlightyoga.com or 401 849-3200.

Teens can sample an upcoming series developed for them during a FREE class being offered at 2 pm on Tuesday, January 7th. Shelley Dungan of Healing Touch Yoga will lead Teen Yoga, a light-hearted, gentle class that provides a safe and supportive place for teens to mentally unwind, give their body some TLC and learn stress-management skills. Open to boys and girls. The 10 week series begins January 7th.

Families can experience the joyful benefits of yoga together on Monday afternoons at 3:30 with certified instructor Shelley Dungan. Through individual and partner yoga poses flexibility, strength, balance and stress reduction will be explored. Family Yoga is designed for 7-12 year olds accompanied by an adult. No yoga experience is needed. The class will be modified as needed so everyone feels successful and relaxed!

Those new to yoga or who would like to refine their practice should check out two new Beginner Yoga Series being offered. Designed to be progressive, each class will build on the previous, to develop a basic, safe and healthy practice. Emphasis will be on proper alignment, breathing and relaxation. Each class will include time for questions and discussion. Chrissy Bevilacqua will lead a six-week series on Monday evenings from 6 – 7:30 beginning January 6. Maggie Martin will lead a four-week series on Saturdays from 1 – 2:30 beginning January 11. A free class pass will be given to each participant who completes a minimum of four beginner classes.

A FREE overview of the upcoming series Yoga On & Off the Mat: Gentle Yoga & Book Discussion takes place on Tuesday, January 7 at 12:30 pm. Join this rich and enlightening discussion about yoga’s timeless wisdom and relevant philosophy. Each class will start with a gentle yoga practice and transition into a guided book discussion; one chapter per week, from Deborah Adele’s book The Yamas & Niyamas. The 10 week series, led by Shelley Dungan, begins January 14 and concludes March 18.

Bring energy and vibrancy into body and mind during the upcoming 40-Day Winter CleanseExperience a deep immersion into the lifestyle practices that make you feel the best: yoga, healthy eating, meditation and self-reflection. 40-Day participants take part in unlimited yoga classes, including the studio’s award winning Yoga 101 beginner sessions, as well as meditation, nutrition talks, and weekly community meetings from January 10 – February 18, 2014. A FREE informational session will take place at 12 noon on Friday, January 3.
