Business Continuity Conference at Bryant University
The conference is aimed for RI businesses and the purpose of the conference is to educate businesses in order to improve their disaster preparedness; improve communication with business and industry before, during and after disaster events; rapidly develop sound economic-impact estimates to support decision making and requests for business assistance; coordinate response efforts to assist businesses in their efforts to return to normal operations as quickly as possible; and help coordinate post disaster economic recovery.

Speaker(s): Michael Byrnes
Michael Byrnes is President of Middle Kingdom Advisors and a Senior Advisor to Yuan Associates, a government affairs services firm based in Beijing which assists US enterprises to enter, expand and operate in the China Market. He is also a senior partner in Ameri- China Partners; a Beijing based firm providing fraud investigation, due diligence and risk management services to foreign firms in China. Previously Mike was President of Tyco International, China. Mike retired from the military in 1998 with the rank of Major General. Mike has lived and worked in China for more than 20 years and frequently presents on “Doing Business in China.”
Paul DiVecchio
Paul DiVecchio is well known and highly respected in both the public and private sector for his skill and knowledge of the ever changing world of export regulatory compliance. For the past 25 years Paul has been working as a private consultant to companies and organizations, guiding their efforts for risk avoidance and regulatory compliance while at the same time maximizing their international opportunities. He conducts seminars and training programs across the country on best practices for companies, government organizations and municipal and regional groups and challenges.
Michelle Deng
Dr. Michelle Deng is Senior Counsel at Pearl Cohen Zedek Latzer LLP, an international law firm with intellectual property, commercial and litigation practices. She is a U.S. intellectual property attorney with more than twelve years of experience. Dr. Deng’s practice focuses primarily on global intellectual property portfolio development, freedom to operate, and due diligence for corporate transactions and market entry. Dr. Deng also counsels clients on US-China cross border business related intellectual property issues to maximize the desired commercial outcome while minimizing intellectual property risks.
Byron Lee
Byron Lee is the Director of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) in New York. HKTDC is responsible for promoting Hong Kong’s external trade in products and services. Byron joined HKTDC in 1997 and has served in various position on the Council and has been the Director New York since April 2010. Hong Kong is an excellent gateway into both China and the rest of Asia and can be an ideal platform for US companies to develop strategic business partnerships and exports. Mr. Lee will talk about the Chinese market and the advantages that Hong Kong has to offer companies.

The International Professional Series at Bryant University provides an opportunity for trade professionals to enhance their knowledge of relevant international business topics.
