Lincoln 6th grader Amiya Mandapati Wins 2014 Rhode Island Independent School Spelling Bee

LINCOLN, RI – Lincoln School 6th grader and Lincoln, Rhode Island resident Amiya Mandapati won the 2014 Rhode Island Independent School Spelling Bee. Amiya ’20 is heading to the RI State Spelling Bee after winning the 2014 RI Independent School Spelling Bee this morning. Lincoln hosted contestants from Rocky Hill, Hoyden Academy, Wheeler, St. Michael’s, Pennfield and the Islamic School of RI. Amiya will go on to compete in the RI State Spelling Bee on March 8, 2014 at Lincoln Middle School in Lincoln RI.

Charles Cofone, Spelling Bee pronouncer said: “The pressure was on! All of the contestants rose to the challenge while their parents and teachers looked on with admiration.”

Lincoln School is an independent college preparatory school for boys and girls Nursery-Kindergarten and all-girls Grades 1-12, where high academic and ethical standards challenge students to nurture their special talents and interests.
