“Learn to Fly” Book Outlines a Safe Flight Plan for Family Businesses

MIDDLEBOROUGH, MA – Many family businesses struggle with the challenge of transition to the next generation.  Barriers can include a patriarch who is not quite ready to let go, children who have little training and no system to follow, and a lack of leadership to assist with the transition process.

“Learn to Fly” is a new guide book written by Kevin P. Glynn, founder and director of Lighthouse Strategic Partners, a Middleborough, MA-based firm that helps family and other mid-sized businesses with controlled growth and profitability.  The book is offered free to the business public.  The book can be hand-delivered by the author, along with a complimentary 90-minute business audit. If shipment is preferred, a $4 postal fee is required.

Published by Wow Books, the book offers an allegory about a family business with an aging pilot for an owner and a frightened wife and children who are along for the bumpy ride.  Flying a plane, like running a business, includes both skill and systems. The book outlines why the tribal knowledge base of the company, as well as the processes, should be documented and implemented. Thus, the family business can soar into the open skies instead of crashing to earth.
