Leadership Rhode Island to Receive Excellence in Public Service Award

PROVIDENCE, RI – Leadership Rhode Island (LRI) is pleased to announce that Common Cause RI has chosen the organization to receive the 2013 Excellence in Public Service

“Over the past 18 months, LRI has led the way in Central Falls helping restart a functional democracy by creating opportunities for increased civic engagement, convening candidate forums, and managing the entire city charter review process whereby 100% of the suggested changes that resulted were adopted by voters. Partnering with Common Cause, LRI hosted a series of candidate debates for both the mayoral and General Assembly races.

Additionally, they held a special Leadership Central Falls that included almost all of the candidates for chief executive as well as a cross section of stakeholders, forming a class of dedicated community leaders that were truly representative of the City of Central Falls. We are grateful to LRI for their leadership in Central Falls and their commitment to expose all LRI participants to our core values of transparency and accountability. We look forward to working with them in the years to come.” – Common Cause RI
