Kevin and Paula Murray McNamara ’80 will be honored at Lincoln’s School’s Farm to Fork Benefit on May 10, 2014

PROVIDENCE, RI – On May 10, 2014 Lincoln will honor Board Chair Paula Murray McNamara ’80 and Kevin McNamara for their leadership and commitment to Lincoln School.  Together, Paula and Kevin have played a critical role in shaping Lincoln School today. Notably, they led the Faxon Farm renovation from its initial planning and fundraising to its completion in 2013.

Our farm-to-fork theme pays tribute to the school’s Quaker values with a salute to the SPICES of Lincoln life; simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality, and stewardship of the earth. Lincoln School has been dedicated to educating girls for 130 years.

Hosted at the Murray Athletic Complex at Faxon Farm, the evening will include:

  • Drinks and hors d’oeuvres by the fire featuring signature craft cocktails
  • Dinner under a tent, served family style and made with ingredients sourced from local farms and purveyors
  • Bar will include local beer and wine
  • Only in Rhode Island Table (featuring local artisans)
  • Live and silent auction with items that align with concept of local sustainability when possible

Kevin chaired the Faxon Farm Renovation Task Force that developed the plan for creating two new Championship Fields including the Perlman Family Field, the Boss Tennis Center, Carriage House and Terrace, and renovated Barn equipped with Training Room.

Following in the footsteps of her mother, Suzanne Young Murray ’58 who served as President of the Board of Trustees (1992-1995), Paula assumed the role of Board President in June 2010. Thanks to her leadership on the Board, Lincoln completed a $10.3 million Our Best Selves Capital Campaign, doubled the School’s endowment, and helped secure dynamic new leadership for Lincoln with the appointment of Suzanne Fogarty as Head of School beginning in 2014.

Paula is the president of the Murray Family Charitable Foundation. She was a senior director at Fidelity Investments and worked at the firm for over 21 years. She is a Trustee at Brown University and a former member of the President’s Leadership Council. She is the President of the Brown University Sports Foundation which raises funds to support the school’s athletic teams. She joined the R.I. State Investment Commission in 2011 and works closely with current Treasurer Gina Raimondo and her staff. Paula graduated from Brown University.

Kevin has been a sports writer at The Providence Journal since 1988. He has covered college basketball for the paper for more than 20 years and followed the Big East, the Atlantic 10 and the Ivy League over that time. He has also covered the Red Sox in the World Series, the Celtics in the NBA Finals, the Ryder Cup, 15 Final Fours and other events in his career. Kevin is a native of Coventry and a graduate of Syracuse University.

Paula and Kevin have two children. Maggie McNamara ’13 is freshman at Harvard. Joe McNamara is a sophomore at Providence Country Day.

Lincoln School is a Quaker independent college preparatory school for girls, founded in 1884, where high academic and ethical standards challenge students from two year olds through Grade 12 to nurture their special talents and interests.
