Junior Achievement of Rhode Island to Pilot Three New Blended Learning Program in 2015 – 2016

PROVIDENCE, RI – Junior Achievement of Rhode Island (JA) has announced that it will pilot three new blended learning programs during the 2015 – 2016 academic year. The programs are JA Finance Park Virtual, JA Global Marketplace, and JA Personal Finance.
JA Finance Park Virtual is a month-long program for middle and high school students that introduces students to personal financial planning and career exploration. At the culmination of this teacher-led program, students visit JA Finance Park, a virtual community, to put into practice what they’ve learned by developing and committing to a personal budget.
JA Global Marketplace gives students an opportunity to experience the worldwide interdependence of producers, consumers, and the global workforce by playing the role of business owners and managers at the international ‘FreeTrade Market.’ JA Global Marketplace is recommended for students in sixth, seventh, and eighth grades and the program is delivered to students through an online Learning Management System (LMS).
JA Personal Finance demonstrates the relationship between financial decisions made now and future financial freedom and quality of life. Students learn that a positive financial future requires management strategies, including career exploration, budgeting, savings, wise use of credit, savvy shopping, consumer protection, and investment strategies. JA Personal Finance is recommended for students in high school and the program is delivered to students through an online Learning Management System (LMS).

In addition to these new pilot programs, JA will be launching the newly redeveloped JA Our Nation program for 5th grade students. JA Our Nation provides practical information about the need for employees who can meet the demands of the 21st century job market, particularly in high-growth, high-demand jobs. By program’s end, students will understand the skills, especially in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) that will make their futures brighter.
