Joseph G.E. Knight Chapter 13 (RISCORE) Helps more Small Businesses in 2013 Entrepreneurs Trust SCORE “Mentors to America’s Small Business”

PROVIDENCE, RI – More small business owners and entrepreneurs in Rhode Island are turning to RISCORE for mentoring and advice on how to start and grow their businesses. RISCORE provided services to more than 500 local entrepreneurs in fiscal year 2013 (Oct. 1, 2012-Sept. 30, 2013), an increase of six percent over the previous year.
RISCORE provided business advice to 525 area business owners through mentoring sessions in fiscal year 2013. Local entrepreneurs also received information and training at 50 SCORE seminars and workshops. Also, a new office was opened in the Northern RI Chamber of Commerce, Lincoln, Rhode Island to better serve businesses in that area.
“RISCORE continues to expand its role as a trusted mentor to the Rhode Island business community,” says Chapter Chair George Hemond. “Our volunteers donated 1,800 hours in fiscal year 2013 to help their clients with small business needs.”
RISCORE welcomed 9 new volunteers to the chapter in fiscal year 2013, to further serve the needs of the growing local business community. Online mentoring continued to grow as well, with 475 new clients seeking out RISCORE on the internet for answers to their questions.
Since 1964, SCORE has helped more than nine million aspiring entrepreneurs. Each year, SCORE provides small business mentoring and workshops to more than 375,000 new and growing small businesses. More than 13,000 business experts volunteer as mentors in 350 chapters serving local communities with entrepreneur education to help grow one million small businesses.
