Gracie’s Presents a Culinary Excursion to Alsace and Southern Rhone

PROVIDENCE, RI – Que vous appréciez le vin français?  If so, plan to reserve your spot for Gracie’s upcoming wine dinner on Thursday, August 15th.  Providence’s only AAA Four Diamond Award-winning restaurant partners with Grapes & Grains to present an evening of seasonal dishes paired beautifully with a collection of French wines.

Steve Wynn, of the Rhode Island based importer Wine Brothers, will educate guests on the wine pairings.  The evening will feature wines from Domaine Gerard Metz, located in the charming village of Ittersviller in the heart of Alsace, and also an impressive collection from the most important villages in Southern Rhone bottled under thePatrick Lesec Selections label.

A four-course Chef’s tasting, created by Executive Chef Matthew Varga, will be paired with the wines.  Pastry Chef Melissa Denmark’s dessert course is one of the evening’s menu highlights.

“I love creating desserts that are harmonious with wine. Our dessert course will showcase the local peach harvest, enhanced with a bit of spice.  It’s going to be deliciously paired with a late harvest wine from Gerard Metz,” said Denmark.

Gracie’s and Grapes & Grains – a retail wine shop based in Barrington – have hosted multiple wine dinners together in the past. This one in particular is a much anticipated event.

“There are few wineries that get us as excited as Gerard Metz & Patrick Lesec,” said Peter Andrews, General Manager of Grapes & Grains. “Pairing these amazing wines with Chef Matthew Varga’s cuisine is very exciting; this dinner will be one to remember.”

The evening will begin at 6:00 PM with a reception, followed by a seated four-course dinner expertly paired with wines from both of the selected regions.

The cost per guest is $100.00 not including tax and gratuity.  Reservations can be made by calling Gracie’s at (401) 272-7811 or by emailing Katie@graciesprov.com.
