Fragata Named New Tourism Marketing Coordinator

NEW BEDFORD,  MA – The New Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the addition of Ellie Fragata to the Southeastern Massachusetts Convention & Visitors Bureau team in the newly created position of Tourism Marketing Coordinator.

In this role, Ms. Fragata will be responsible for helping to plan, develop and manage destination marketing activities, including marketing, sales and services in order to promote and attract visitors to Southeastern Massachusetts. She will work directly with the Chamber’s professional staff, as well as the other four chambers of commerce in the region and tourism stakeholders involved in the Southeastern Massachusetts Convention & Visitors Bureau (SMCVB). The participating chambers are the New Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce, Fall River Area Chamber of Commerce, Taunton Area Chamber of Commerce, Tri-Town Chamber of Commerce (Mansfield) and the United Regional Chamber of Commerce (Attleboro).

Prior to being selected for this position, Fragata served as the Development Coordinator for the Westport River Watershed Alliance (WRWA) where she developed content marketing strategy, deliverables for development outreach and coordinated promotional materials. In addition, she has also worked as a contracted copywriter for Karmaloop in Boston where she helped write, edit and launch an SEO overhaul for all 48,000 product descriptions. She also served as the  Marketing and Sales Assistant at Trio Café & Lounge in Dartmouth.

Fragata first discovered her passion for media through an internship she earned with WBSM through the Greater New Bedford Connecting Activities Partnership. The partnership is a successful collaboration of the City of New Bedford Office of the Mayor, the Greater New Bedford Workforce Investment Board and Youth Council, Bristol Community College, the New Bedford Area Cham­ber of Commerce, and six high schools in the region that provides career exploration activities for local students. She went on to attend Hofstra University in New York where she earned a BA in Public Relations, Advertising and Applied Communications. While at Hofstra, she completed a year-long creative services internship at Victoria’s Secret Direct where she helped develop editorial and call to action copy for their seasonal collection and promotional marketing campaign initiatives. She is a native of Dartmouth, MA.
